A BLACKSTONE POLYCHROME FIGURE OF Seated in yogic posture with a meditation band around his legs, the
PADAMPA SANGYE plump mahasiddha presents his characteristic double-handed vitarka
TIBET, 15TH CENTURY mudra. His long locks fan across his back, and a bone apron signifies
Himalayan Art Resources item no.61550 his status as a tantric adept.

Padampa was born in 12th-century Southern India. He trained at the
Pala monasteries before traveling to Tibet on several occasions. He is
