A GILT COPPER FIGURE OF SYAMATARA With the power to help overcome fears and grant wishes, Green
TIBET, CIRCA 14TH CENTURY Tara is highly revered in Tibet and Nepal. This charming visage of
Himalayan Art Resources item no.61541 the goddess has received much affection from the devotees’ thumb
4 3/4 in. (12 cm) high over the centuries, giving rise to an attractive dark brown and pinkish
coppery patina under the gilded outer layer at the most propitiated
$6,000 - 8,000 touch-points.
西藏 約十四世紀 銅鎏金綠度母像 Her face has an uplifting countenance with endearing rounded cheeks
and expertly modeled lips, nose, and eyes. Most certainly made
by a Newari craftsman, she may have had an initial Tibetan patron,
given the sealed base-plate underneath. For other contemporaneous
