Standing in tribhanga wearing a thin close-ftting
sanghati, his face with serene expression and heavily-
lidded downcast eyes, fanked by elongated ears, and
surmounted by thick curls pulled over the ushnisha

Stylistically, this work can be compared with an early
bronze fgure of Buddha from either Northeastern
India or Nepal, at the Cleveland Museum of Art
(1968.40). Both fgures are depicted in a gentle
tribhanga with emphasis on the feshy suppleness of
the body under a thin simple robe.
