‘WONDER OF ZAANDAM’ PIECES
QIANLONG PERIOD, MID-LATE 18TH CENTURY
Decorated with ‘The Bull’s Cruelty’, after the
Dutch painting, depicting a farmer and his
wife attacked by a bull, the wife thrown up in
the air giving premature birth to a baby which
falls on the ground together with her shoes,
a boy fying a kite on the right, comprising
a sgraffto-ground plate and a tea bowl and
saucer inscribed in black paint ‘29 Augustus
1647’
