One side with a cluster of three buildings
and fags fying above, the other side with
a western ship under full sail

This very rare subject seems to be
unrecorded, though it appeared on a
tea caddy in the P.H.B. Frelinghuysen
collection, sold Christie’s, New York, 24
January 2012, lot 96. Its fag may represent
either the Hudson Bay Company, granted
royal charter to trade furs in 1670, or the
King’s Colors as used in the 18th century
for both military and merchant ships.
