         A RARE CARVED WHITE
         JADE 'HEHE ERXIAN'
         MOUNTAIN BOULDER
         QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
         The boulder is exquisitely carved to
         one side in high relief with a dramatic
         mountainscape, depicting the Hehe Erxian
         ascending a steep path on a bridge through
         a mountainous landscape with overhanging
         pine and wutong trees. Above them is an
         open pavilion nestled in the summit cliff.
         The reverse is carved with large rocky cliffs
         detailed with a standing egret and another
         one flying above, shrouded with pine trees
         and lingzhi blossoms growing from the
         crevices of the rocks.
