A DING BLACK-GLAZED
CONICAL TEA BOWL
NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY (960-1127)
The bowl is potted with wide flaring sides
rising from a small, delicate foot, and is
covered overall with a lustrous black glaze
that thins to a mushroom colour at the rim
and above the shallow recessed foot.

A DING CARVED ‘LOTUS’
BOWL AND COVER
NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY (960-1127)
The bowl is carved around the exterior
with two lotus blossoms. The domed
cover with a broad rim is similarly carved
with lotus and surmounted by a double-
gourd finial. Both the cover and bowl are
applied to the exterior and interior with a
transparent glaze of ivory tone.
