Houses

The remnants of a great number of ordinary houses have been excavated
at the Erlitou site 二里頭遺址. Although they vary in size, with some
quite long and containing a number of rooms, all are constructed on
               rectangular foundations.

According to archaeologists, these differences in size point to the
existence of various social classes in the society of the Xia people
夏民族的社會 and a central power or political authority which enforced
               or encouraged this social order.
