A BLUE AND WHITE ‘LOTUS’ BOWL
DAOGUANG SEAL MARK AND PERIOD
with deep rounded sides rising from a short straight foot
to an everted rim, painted around the exterior with a
broad lotus scroll band above lotus lappets, the interior
centred with a lotus medallion, the base with the six-
character seal mark in underglaze-blue
Diameter 16.9 cm, 6⅝ in.
PROVENANCE
Formerly in a private French collection, purchased in Beijing
by the chairman of Bank of Indochina prior to 1946 (by
repute).

‘IMMORTALS’ BOWL
QIANLONG SEAL MARK AND PERIOD

painted to the exterior in underglaze blue with the ‘Eight
Daoist Immortals’ carrying their various attributes,
journeying across a dense copper-red wave ground, the Mark
interior rendered with Shoulao with his deer reserved
against a wave ground enclosed within a double-
ring circle, the base with a six-character seal mark in
underglaze blue
Diameter 22.3 cm, 8¾ in.
