 the ovoid body of quatrefoil section, rising to a broad
 shoulder and a tapered neck, each lobe finely carved with   161

 neck incised with double lines, the circular cover with a   YUAN DYNASTY
 low central dome incised with stylized radiating petals and   the steep rounded sides rising from a splayed foot to a   盌底墨字:
 surmounted by a flattened knop, Japanese wood box (4)  slightly incurved rim, the interior with a pale blue glaze   至正元年
 Height 5½ in., 13.9 cm  accented with vivid violet-colored splashes, the glaze   譚希仁

                     for its robust forms and thick opaque glazes of luscious blue
                     tones. See a similarly decorated bowl, sold in our London
                     rooms, 13th December 1988, lot 111 and one slightly larger in
                     size, sold at Christie’s Hong Kong, 29th May 2018, lot 3094.

 ‘PEONY’ VASE
 NORTHERN SONG / JIN DYNASTY
 the ovoid jar supported on a slightly splayed foot, the gently
 rounded shoulders narrowing to a short cupped mouth,
 carved through the white slip with a broad frieze of peony
 scrolls, framed by lappet bands encircling the shoulder and
 foot, applied overall with a transparent glaze save for the
 exposed foot and base
