Müller, no. 225.                                                                                                       This work is Alexander Derkachenko’s interpretation of the famous
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Czech beer brand Velké Popovice “kozel”. The highlight of this work
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            is not the beautifully depicted goat hair, not his expressive eyes,
                                                                                                            Carved from banded African ebony and depicting the head of a                                                                    but a glass with foaming beer. It was amber that was best suited
                                                                                                            kappa, the crown which contains the being’s vital fluids, is made                                                               to convey the color, transparency and naturalism of a glass of beer
                                                                                                            from the naturally light part of the wood. The eyes are inlaid in                                                               (Derkachenko recommends not to taste it). The eyes are inlaid with
                                                                                                            dark horn with gold pupils. Large himotoshi to the underside and                                                                horn and the beer foam carved from mammoth horn. Himotoshi

                                                                                                            A famous scene of “Oni and Shoki”, which is addressed by many
                                                                                                            netsuke masters, most notably by Kano Tomokazu. Here, Alexander

The rat is a sign of the Eastern horoscope,

The walnut is a symbol of fertility
