A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF SHADBHUJA MAHAKALA
18th century
The God of Pristine Awareness, a wrathful emanation of Avalokitesvara,
standing on the corpse of the elephant-headed Ganapati, cast with six
hands and three eyes, the central hands holding a curved knife and
skull cup, the middle two a human skull mala and a trident, the lowest
two a damaru drum and a lasso, the deity wearing a tiger skin and
garlands of heads, bones and snakes, his head crowned with a five-
pointed Akshobhya tiara.

A BRONZE ‘SHOULAO’ GROTTO
17th century
Cast with the central Daoist God of Longevity seated under a large
overhanging rock face, clad in long robes and holding a peach and
staff, flanked with a small stag and a crane, the reverse with a cast
inscription in low relief 唐揚惠之造 ‘Made by Tang Yanghui’, mounted
on a later metal plinth. The bronze: 40cm (15 3/4in) high

A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF ELEVEN-HEADED
AVALOKITESVARA
17th century
The standing Bodhisattva intricately modelled with eight arms, the
main hands joined in the gesture of salutation while the others radiating
with various mudras, dressed in a pleated garment and draped sash
with beaded jewellery, fixed stand.
