A BLUE AND WHITE PEACH FORM ‘CADOGAN’ WINEPOT
Chongzhen, circa 1640
Painted with insects in flight amongst fruiting stems, partly reserved
with swastika designs, amongst scattered bamboo and floral sprigs,
the handle and spout modelled as simulated branches with moulded
leaves. 15.5cm (6.1/8in) high.

See an identical winepot, salvaged from the ‘Hatcher Cargo’, and
therefore dated c. 1640, see D.S. Howard, The Choice of the Private
Trader London 1994, p.142-143, no.150.
The moniker ‘Cadogan’ was only applied to this type of winepot in the
early 19th century when the Earl of Cadogan ordered their replication
at the Rockingham ceramic factory in England.

A TURQUOISE-GLAZED FIGURE OF ZHENWU
17th century
The Daoist deity seated on a high-backed throne, with a tortoise and
snake between his feet, flanked by miniature attendants; together with
a powder blue garlic-head bottle vase, with a wide flaring foot and a
biscuit chilong encircling the neck, box. The figure: 25.3cm (10in) high
(2).
