and chrysanthemum, surmounted by a tortoise-
shaped knop.

A large Japanese gilt bronze tripod censer with raised
motifs
19th century
heavily potted over three stout legs, decorated to body
to show panels depicting painting-like subjects such as
mandarin ducks, magpie, and orchids, mounted with
two rope twist handles to side, base hollowed and
remounted with later period plaque.
H: 9 1/2 in., 24.1cm
provenance:
Property of a Minnesota gentleman, purchased from an
estate sale in the Minnetonka area.
