           西藏 十九世紀 白度母唐卡

This large-scale painting of the goddess White Tara illustrates her with seven
sensuous eyes and with skin is as pale as the autumn moon. As the female
counterpart to Avalokiteshvara, she grasps the stem of a lotus while lowering her
right hand in charity, indicating to worshippers of her ability to bestow long life.
Adorned with flowing garments and eye catching jewelry, she resides within a
paradise of rolling green hills, with wrathful protector deities below and yellow hat-
wearing lamas of the Gelug school above.

The color scheme of the halo, as well as the style of the garment, jewelry, and facial
features bear close resemblance with two other paintings, one sold in Christie’s,
New York, 26 August 2015, lot 294, and another in the Fine Arts Zanabazar
           Museum (HAR 50043).
