A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF TARA
9TH CENTURY
standing in tribhanga on a lotus pedestal with a long rod from
the base, with the left hand held in vitarkamudra and the right
hand held to one side possibly holding a partially missing long
curled lotus stem, the large bloom resting on one shoulder,
draped in a flowing dhoti tied with a sash at the waist, the
face rendered with a gentle expression, framed by large hoop
earrings and a jewelled tiara, wood stand

cast seated in dhyanasana on a lotus pedestal base with
cloth draped down the front, the left hand clutching a chatra,
the body adorned with elaborate jewellery, wrapped with
a bellowing celestial scarf around the shoulders and arms,
the face of a benevolent expression framed by pendulous
earrings and surmounted by an elaborate five-point diadem
surrounding a high chignon, traces of polychrome
