LIU HAI
㶭 曺 QING DYNASTY, 17TH / 18TH CENTURY
⋩ 䌱 kneeling and paddling a boat fashioned from a live pine tree,
ᶫġ 晽 the gnarled trunk rising from the stern, its twisting branches
İġ ∱ extending forward to form a canopy, a chirping bird perched
⋩ 㴟 atop one of the branches, Liu Hai positioned at the bow gazing
ℓ ㇚ down at the water while pushing the oar through the ripples
ᶾ 慹 rising along the boat’s hull, the sleeve of the robe sweeping
䲨ġġġ 垦 upward from the action, accompanied by a three-legged toad,
㒢 the stone an even, translucent pale green tone, wood stand (2)
