AN UNUSUAL PALE BLUE-GLAZED
CARVED PEAR-SHAPED VASE
18TH CENTURY
The bulbous body and waisted neck are well
carved in low relief with bands of highly stylized
archaistic decoration, all between a band of key
fret below the mouth rim and a band of triangular
overlapping blade tips encircling the splayed foot.
The vase is covered inside and out with a glaze of
pale sky-blue color that thins on the decoration.
