A GILT COPPER ALLOY FIGURE OF VAJRAPANI
Qianlong mark and period
Of standard wrathful iconography of a portly figure attired in snakes,
holding his eponymous vajra in his upraised right hand while his left
clasps a ghanta bell at his waist, skin covered in ‘cold-gold’ and hair
highlighted in red pigments; supported by a stand incised with the Da
Qing Qianlong Nian Zao cast to the upper edge above jin gang sheng
zhuang incised along the bottom edge, the reverse incised to read
chu jin kou ling ce.

Qing dynasty, 18th/19th century
Of standard iconography consisting of a six-armed wrathful deity
bedecked in garlands of human heads and animal skins, crowned
in a skull diadem, holding a mala of skulls, a damaru skull-drum,
a karttrka chopper and kapala bowl, all striding upon a elephant-
headed figure prostrate upon a thin single-lotus plinth.

xiang [Tibet cast bronze Qing 18th century six-armed Mahakala], and
