A WHITE JADE ‘ZIZHENSHI YIN’ SEAL
QING DYNASTY, 18TH – 19TH CENTURY
of square form, the upper section deftly carved as a mythical
beast sitting on its haunches, an aperture pierced through its
body below its horn, the seal face crisply carved with the four
characters reading zizhenshi yin, the smoothly polished stone
of even white colour
3.4 cm, 1⅜ in.
PROVENANCE
Collection of Edward T. Chow (1910-1980), and thence by
descent in the family.
