                       QIANLONG FOUR-CHARACTER WHEEL-CUT MARK
                       WITHIN A DOUBLE SQUARE AND OF THE PERIOD
                       (1736-1795)
                       The vase has a globular body and cylindrical neck, and the
                       glass is of a deep garnet-red color.

                       PROVENANCE:
                       Alvin Lo, Hong Kong, 1997.

                       During the Qianlong period, glass vases of this bottle
                       shape were made in various colors, both in translucent
                       and opaque glass. A translucent, ruby-red example with
                       Qianlong mark in the Andrew K. F. Lee Collection is
                       illustrated in Elegance and Radiance: Grandeur in Qing
                       Glass, The Art Museum, The Chinese University of Hong
                       Kong, 2000, pp. 104-5, no. 11.
