Naturalistically modelled, crawling with its
head emerging from its carapace and turned
425 to the right, signed on its underside in cursive
script Hogyokusai [...] Shomin.

OF TWO PLUMP PUPPIES

Constructed as two separate pieces, one
standing on its hind legs with both forepaws
resting on its mate’s back, the other
recumbent, playing with a stem of bamboo,
signed on the belly on one puppy Morimitsu;
with two unassociated wooden storage boxes

The crustacean separately cast and
assembled, the legs and claws fully
articulated, the surface worked to resemble
the crab’s natural shell, patinated to a reddish-
