           AN ARCHAIC BRONZE TRIPOD VESSEL AND
           COVER, DING
           Warring States Period
           Raised on three flared feet, the globular body cast
           with two narrow bands of twisted rope pattern
           and set with a pair of lion-mask handles each
           suspending a loose ring, the cover repeating the two
           bands and cast with three evenly spaced recumbent
           rams surrounding a single ring finial.
           6in (15.2cm) high; 7 1/2in (19cm) wide

           Compare the bronze tripod vessel and cover           319
           decorated with twisted rope pattern, unearthed in
           1983 at Shangshecun, Xinzhou, Shanxi province,
           now in the Xinzhou City Museum, illustrated in
           Compendium of Chinese Bronze, Vol. 8, Eastern
           Zhou II, Beijing, 1995, p.173, no.194, attributed to
           the early Warring States Period.

           AN ARCHAIC BRONZE FOOTED VESSEL, DOU
           Warring States Period
           The spherical body with domed cover finely
           decorated with concentric bands of 'hook and
           comma' relief, the pair of ring handles flanking the
           body and the set of three ring knobs on top of the
           cover all finely engraved, the high foot splayed and
           similarly decorated with 'hook and comma' design,
           the dark gray metal covered inside and out a thin
           layer of malachite encrustation.
