A bronze model of Guanyin and child riding on
a qilin
Ming Dynasty
The Goddess of Mercy wearing a robe with an
elaborate cloud collar and carrying a boy holding
out a lobed dish in both his hands, the figure seated
sideways on a separately cast two-horned qilin with
long slender legs supporting the scaly body, the head
turned with mouth gaping open and the bushy tail
curling upwards, wood stand.

A buffalo horn ‘magnolia’ libation cup
18th century
The dark amber-hued horn intricately carved with
a nine-petalled magnolia flower opening on a
reticulated twisting stem issuing eight smaller
opening flowers and further magnolia buds, a hook-
beaked long-tailed bird perching on one branch,
fixed wood stand.
