VERTICAL STRIPE BACKGROUNDS
19th century
The larger jar with applied animal head lugs on the curving shoulder
enameled in opaque white and bright colors with large-scale flowers
and leaf scrolls against wide vertical ribbons of color, the base
unglazed (lacking cover, enamels worn); the smaller jar also with
applied animal head lugs on the shoulder, enameled in similar bright
colors with birds and flowering branches set against narrow vertical
ribbons of color (lacking cover, star crack across glazed recessed
base).
