in dhyana mundra mudra, wearing
a sanghati draped over the left
shoulder, the borders of which are
richly incised with a foliate pattern,
the neck gently cast with fleshy
lines, the face holding a steady
gaze, 28cm high

Bath, Somerset, who made a
large bequest to the Ashmolean
museum in 1947, and by family
descent.
