Wu Shanming was born in Zhejiang and is renowned for his figural
studies, often depicting cultural minorities, nudes and famous scholars.
For much of his career he also taught painting and has held numerous
posts in national and provincial artistic organizations. This particular work
displays his tendency towards economic use of softly textured brushwork.
