AN ARCHAISTIC WHITE JADE ‘MANDARIN
DUCK AND LOTUS’ VASE AND COVER
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The group is carved in the form of a duck with its neck turn sharply backwards, clasping
a lotus stem in its beak, with a two-handled vase emerging from its back. The body is
incised with archaistic ‘C’ scrolls and stylised geometric motifs. The stone with some
minor areas of light streaked inclusions.
