A PAIR OF LARGE SQUARE-SECTION WUCAI VASES
19TH CENTURY

Each vase is boldly decorated in mirror image with various mythical beasts, one standing upon a rocky

outcrop and others scattered above, all on a ground of prunus fowers and iron-red spirals. Each face is

decorated with two of the Eight Precious Things, babao, one on the neck and one on the centre of the

panel. Each vase with an apocryphal Wanli mark to the neck.
