A GILT-BRONZE SHALLOW BOWL
TIANQI PERIOD (1621-1627)
The bowl is fnely incised to the interior with a scene of a scholar playing the guqin beneath pine and
bamboo next to lingzhi and peonies, and the rim is bordered by a foral band. The exterior is decorated
with a wide band enclosing the fowers of the four seasons: peony, lotus, prunus, and chrysanthemum, all
reserved on a stippled ground.
