AN ARCHAISTIC GOLD AND SILVER-INLAID
BRONZE WINE VESSEL AND COVER, YOU
18th century
Cast with flanges along the side and an archaistic
taotie mask band on the front and back reserved
on a leiwen ground, the neck and foot similarly
decorated with bands of confronting gui dragons,
the shoulder flanked by two small tapir-heads with
pointy horns securing a rope-form handle, the
domed cover with two further taotie masks and
flanges encircling the raised knop.
