15th century Cut with a repeating design of butterflies Circa 1900
Finely woven as alternating squares of amongst undulating leafy peony stems. The bolt finely woven in a rich, black hue,
rich blue, mustard, olive and brown, each 243cm x 104cm (95.5/8in x 41in). with cut motifs of figures crossing lotus
variously enclosing a lotus flower, flaming ponds in sampans approaching pine-strewn
pearl or a Buddhist emblem, with selvedge £2,000 - 3,000 shores, the designs arranged for the cloth to
