with stylised scrolling peonies; a foliate-
rim dish also painted with peony and lotus
sprays, framed by brocaded borders; and a
Japanese blue and white dish decorated with
prunus on the cobalt blue ground, inscription

The flasks painted on either side of
the flattened circular mid-sections with
medallions of an apparently narrative scene
of scholars and their attendants in various
pursuits on a fenced terrace, the high-
shouldered oviform jar with dragons chasing
flaming pearls amongst wispy clouds. The
flasks: 39.6cm (15 5/8in) high (4).
