A RARE ‘SCOTSMEN’ PUNCHBOWL
CIRCA 1745-1750 Acquired from Schmidt’s, Palm Beach, c. 1955.
The exterior with a Scottish Highlander on each side between leafy The two Scotsmen are likely Rifeman Shaw and Piper Macdonnel,
peach branches and blossoming pink roses, the interior with a foral both Jacobite martyrs, after prints engraved by George Bickham and
cluster beneath a gilt spearhead border at the rim published in 1743. The engraving of the piper was also used as the
frontispiece for A Short History of the Highland Regiment of 1743
