Possibly depicting Zhongli Quan, the bearded 18cm long
drunk is modelled standing hunched under
the weight of a large gourd over his shoulder, £200 - 300
his flambÈ-glazed robe open to show his
bare stomach. Compare the present lot with a blanc-de-
41cm high chine elephant sold in our New Bond Street
rooms, 6 November 2014, lot 6.

The bowl with incurving mouth-rim and The protruding circular rim above a band of
covered inside and out with a thick lavender- incised scroll decoration, the body incised
blue glaze thinning to a mushroom hue with hatched diaper pattern, all raised on
towards the extremities, with a purple three mask and paw feet, covered with thick
splash to interior, the glaze on the exterior green glaze leaving well and footrim exposed,
stops unevenly at foot to expose the buff (some professional restoration).
