 OF CHINESE PAINTINGS

 ang Zuo (1921-2010), pictured here, was a highly cultured
 man and a respected, influential Chinese economist. He
 Whad been a speechwriter for Mao Tse Tung’s cabinet and
 later worked on many of the economic reforms that swept through
 China in the decades following Mao’s death. He was an honorary
 research professor at several leading Chinese universities and au-
 thored numerous books on economics.
 He collected Chinese paintings and calligraphy and knew many of
 the country’s greatest 20th century artists, including Li Keran on
 whom he wrote a book.
 He  had  six  children  and  spent  his  later  years  living  in  the  family
 home  in  Guangzhou.  Christie’s  is  honoured  to  present  these  five
 paintings from his collection, gifted to one of his children. Part Two
 of the collection will follow in June 2023.
