(LOTS 35-39)
ang Zuo (1921-2010), pictured here, was a highly cultured
man and a respected, influential Chinese economist. He
Whad been a speechwriter for Mao Tse Tung’s cabinet and
later worked on many of the economic reforms that swept through
China in the decades following Mao’s death. He was an honorary
research professor at several leading Chinese universities and au-
thored numerous books on economics.
He collected Chinese paintings and calligraphy and knew many of
the country’s greatest 20th century artists, including Li Keran on
whom he wrote a book.
He had six children and spent his later years living in the family
home in Guangzhou. Christie’s is honoured to present these five
paintings from his collection, gifted to one of his children. Part Two
of the collection will follow in June 2023.
