                                                                                                                                     MEIPING BOTTLE WITH RUSSET FLOWERS
                                                                                                                                     Ceramic with faintly speckled black glaze and

                                                                                                                                     China, Jin Dynasty (1125 - 1234)
                                                                                                                                     This fine and large Henan bottle vase has
                                                                                                                                     a Meiping shape with a spout-like, everted
                                                                                                                                     mouth on a short neck. It is covered with a
                                                                                                                                     lustrous black glaze that shows fine speckles
                                                                                                                                     and transitions to a brown hue at the mouth.
                                                                                                                                     Executed with vivid brush strokes and
                                                                                                                                     showcasing a russet color flowers have been
                                                                                                                                     boldly painted onto the vessel. The foot rim
                                                                                                                                     and underside left unglazed, revealing the
                                                                                                                                     buff-colored body.
