A WHITE AND RUSSET JADE ‘ELEPHANT AND BOY’ CARVING
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The flattened pebble is carved as an elephant standing foursquare with its trunk curled
slightly to the side and the boy sprawled onto its back holding a hooked staff. The stone is
of an even white tone with areas of natural brown veins.
