‘DRAGON’ PANEL
Circa 1780-1820
The rectangular panel decorated with a large front-
facing dragon leaping around a flaming pearl amidst
clouds and above turbulent waves tossed with four
of the Eight Buddhist Emblems, all delicately woven
in gold-wrapped thread and shades of blue, coral,
yellow and ivory.

19th century
Comprising two heart-shaped purses, one in
pink and blue satin, the other in black satin
embroidered with a descending phoenix, shou
medallion and ruyi clouds; two black-ground
satin double gourd-shaped purses embroidered
in chain stitch with butterflies and prunus
and the Auspicious Emblems; a red satin
double-gourd purse embroidered with ruyi
and auspicious inscriptions; two fan cases
in light blue and red ground decorated with
diaper designs, ruyi and cash symbols; a
light blue-ground diamond-shaped purse
embroidered with lotus heads and ruyi.
The largest 28.5cm (11 2/8in) long. (8).
