A LARGE FAHUA `DRAGON' JAR, GUAN A VERY RARE PAIR OF LARGE INCISED WHITE-GLAZED VASES
MING DYNASTY, 15TH-16TH CENTURY JIAJING PERIOD (1522-1566)
The vessel is decorated with a continuous scene of two pairs of dragons One vase is incised with dragons contesting a flaming pearl below a band
contesting a flaming pearl above waves, below ruyi-shaped panels containing of phoenixes amidst floral scroll. The other vase is decorated with carp
phoenixes alternating with flower sprays. The decoration is outlined in raised swimming amidst lotus and other aquatic plants below a band of lotus scroll.
