A CELADON-GROUND FAMILLE-ROSE 民國 豆青地粉彩山水圖長頸瓶
‘LANDSCAPE’ BOTTLE VASE, REPUBLIC 《大清乾隆年製》仿款
PERIOD
the base with an apocryphal Qianlong six-character seal
mark in iron red
Height 13¼ in., 33.8 cm
Exuberantly and finely enameled, the present lot is
decorated with landscapes encircling the body of a vase, like
a painting on a handscroll that is revealed with every turn,
inspired by Qianlong prototype. Qianlong vases decorated in
this style, with mountainous landscapes featuring pavilions
in richly-colored vegetation among towering rockwork and
expanses of water, are known to have been applied onto
porcelain by Tang Ying (1682-1756). Compare a Qianlong
seal mark and period pear-shaped vase, with a similar
mountainous landscape painting, first sold at Christie’s
New York, 24th March 2004, lot 251, and again in our Hong
Kong rooms, 5th April 2017, lot 3624.
