A large blue and white baluster vase
Qianlong
Expertly painted around the body with formal
lotus blossoms on a continuous leafy meander
above decorative bands of stiff lappets, scrolling
lingzhi fungus and chrysanthemum scrolls at the
spreading foot, the shoulder with eight ornate
ruyi head lappets each containing one of the
Eight Buddhist Emblems, bajixiang, the neck with
a further band of lotus scroll beneath stiff leafy
lappets alternating with pairs of stylised scrolling
chilong flanked by two handles each formed as a
curving archaistic mythical beast.
