POSSIBLY KOREAN, 17TH - 19TH CENTURY
The fgure is carved with a serene expression and wearing loose, fowing robes.
The hands are held in bhumisparsha mudra.

A POLYCHROME AND GILT-DECORATED WOOD FIGURE
OF AMITAYUS
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The deity is carved with a serene expression and is seated in dhyanasana
with hands held in dhyanamudra. He wears elaborate earrings and a foliate
headdress. The lacquered and gilt stand with mandorla is carved with
Buddhist lions and elephants to each side.
