OF HORSES
Tang Dynasty
One horse prancing with the right foreleg
raised and the head cocked and turned
down to the left, the other standing four-
square with the head turned slightly to the
right, each horse with large bulging eyes
and an open mouth, the body framed
by a saddle, with traces of cold painted
decoration. The tallest: 34.5cm (13 5/8in)
high (2).

TWO POTTERY COURT FIGURES
Tang Dynasty
The plump figures clad in voluminous high-
waisted robes the lady with her hands held
together at the chest and obscured by long
sleeves, her long pleated skirts falling above
the upturned slippers, the hair drawn up in
an elaborate chignon, the gentleman with the
left hand raised and the right lowered to his
waist, traces of pigment remaining. The male
figure: 33cm (13in) high (2).
