Foreword

Everyone at Christie’s is deeply grateful to the collector who formed the
Linyushanren Collection for entrusting us with its sale. We are now
honoured to offer for auction here in Hong Kong the first part of this exceptional
group of Chinese ceramics from their classic age.

Beyond the sale itself, we have endeavoured to share with our clients around the
world the collector’s and Christie’s enthusiasm for the beauty and elegance of
these objects. The collector himself has a mission to impart his passion and love
for the ceramics of the Song dynasty. We are delighted therefore that through
the sale of this impressive collection, his objective of sharing that passion can be
realised and old and new collectors alike can enjoy owning and living with these
wonderful artefacts.
