A PAIR OF FAMILLE ROSE PINK-GROUND GU-FORM
VASES
JIAQING SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARKS IN IRON-RED AND OF THE PERIOD (1796-1820)
Each vase is elaborately decorated with lotus sprays and four of the Eight Buddhist
Emblems, bajixiang, on the trumpet-shaped top section, all framed between a band of ruyi-
heads to the mouth rim and stylised upright lappets above a band of key-fret interrupted
by the reign mark. The bell-shaped foot bears the other four emblems above a band of
blue key-fret. The interior and base are covered with turquoise enamel.
