‘DR AGON’ VASE
Jiajing mark and of the period (1552–1566)
each spherical bulb decorated in rich dark underglaze cobalt-blue with four imperial five-claw
dragons shown leaping and writhing amidst clouds, forming borderless medallions on a honeycomb
diaper ground, the circular mouth and concave waist banded in white, the slightly recessed base
inscribed with the six-character reign mark in underglaze-blue.
