Urushi (lacquer) on paper, framed and glazed, depicting three crows mid-late 19th century
in flight, one partly cropped by the right-hand side of the composition, Kakejiku (vertical hanging scroll) in yokomono (horizontal) format; ink
their feathers rendered in lustrous black lacquer, with signature Zeshin and colours on silk in silk mounts, depicting three men and a woman
and seal Shin; with a cloth covered cardboard box. preparing mochi (rice cakes), with signature Zen Hokusai Iitsu hitsu
Overall: 54.5cm × 70.5cm (21½in × 27¾in); and a seal, with remnants of a label from Keppel and Co., New York
image: 35cm × 45.5cm (13¾in × 17 7/8in). (2). stating that the scroll was from the collection of the American artist
