AN UNUSUAL BLUE AND WHITE SHAPED AND SCALLOPED
OVAL PLATTER
Qianlong period, circa 1750
Finely painted in various shades of underglaze blue with a finely
penciled and washed design of scholar’s objects set on a rockwork
stand set amongst large peony sprays and delicate bamboo, a band
of spearheads at the well and a diaper cell band at the border with
reserved shaped cartouches, the reverse plain, the base unglazed.
