A WUCAI ‘EIGHT BUDDHIST EMBLEMS’ JAR
Wanli six-character mark and of the period
The ovoid body decorated around the exterior with the Eight
Buddhist Emblems interspersed with meandering lotus scrolls issuing
blossoming blue lotus heads, all between a ruyi-head band on the
shoulder and a petal-lappet border around the foot, later wood cover.

A BLANC DE CHINE FIGURE OF GUANYIN AND CHILD
17th century
The Goddess of Mercy finely modelled seated on rockwork with the
right leg crossed and right foot resting on the left lap, the serene
expression defined by finely-hooded eyes cast downwards under
highly-arching brows and thick hair gathered in two simple knots
resting on each shoulder, the delicate fingers gently supporting a boy
seated on her lap holding a sphere in his right hand.
